R.A.P.T. 1400 with SmartLED

R.A.P.T. 1400 Remote Training Collar is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent training tool! The RAPT 1400 collar is a fantastic training tool. The transmitter fits your hand perfectly, which provides the user versatility and flexability. The vibration feature allows the handler to quickly refocus the dog to the task at hand, rather than issuing a more harsh correction right away. By doing this, your companion retriever can concentrate on his intense eagerness to please rather than performing simply to avoid correction. This is just one more example of D.T. Systems doing exactly as they pride themselves on - "Bringing out the best!"

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this collar I’m very satisfied with the R.A.P.T. 1400, the remote is very user friendly and I’m so happy to have a back of the hand setup. Battery life on the collar itself seems to be much improved over my previous models of collar. My one and only complaint is the collar itself is already starting to separate layers, fraying at the feed point and I’ve had to trim and tape twice in less than a month of use (my other collars took years for this to happen). Training is quite enjoyable with the ergonomics of the remote and the programmable quick button is definitely a nice touch. Deserves a 5 star review but can’t give it that because of the actual collar falling apart

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RAPT 1400 is exactly what Happy Jack needed! I have been an upland game hunter for 40 years, many dogs of many breeds. I guess you call them rescue dogs now, back then they were just called strays. About 5 years ago I rescued a German Shorthaired Pointer, a stray, nobody even, knew his name, Jack is his new name. He is not neutered and is super active. I hunted with him from day one and he always roamed to far, almost lost him several times. I assume that is how I ended up with him, he ran off from his previous owner. I obtained one then another cheap e-collars with no favorable results. Seen the RAPT 1400 and decided I would try one more time, didn't even know it had the vibrate feature, just bought it for the long range it claimed. WOW, from the first use the dog has been a dream with this collar on, I only have to hit vibrate and he comes back within gun range immediately, I hardly ever have to use the e stimulation. After 2 years the collar quit, I ordered an add on from amazon and it works fine with the original hand held transmitter. I will send in the other collar for repairs, tech said maybe $40 to $50. I can live with that for a spare collar, I sometimes hunt all day and don't always remember to shut the collar off when on the road, now I will have a spare. Thank You for a very fine quality product, just what the dog needed!!! He rarely even leaves the yard now. If you know GSP dogs, you know that is not common.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great collar for training This collar works great on my English Cocker. Even with a small neck it still fits him perfectly. I like that you can program the Rapid Access Button to vibrate because my dog responds to that the best. Having the transmitter on my hand allows for quick corrections when training or hunting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgraded from the Micro IDT, LOVE the RAPT! After using and loving the Micro IDT, I upgraded to the RAPT 1400 and love the choice I made. What drew me in to choosing the RAPT was the ability to strap it to your hand. Works like a charm.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Collar is sub par I purchased this unit a little more than a year ago. The transmitter is well designed and easy to use. The collar however is sub par. First of all, the charging plug is placed too close to the collar itself and is very difficult to close and make a proper seal. The collar itself is very long which causes undue wear. The rubber coating is degraded and the interior of the collar is now exposed. I would not purchase this unit due to the poor quality and design of the collar itself

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this unit! I recently bought the R.A.P.T. 1400 and absolutely love this collar. I have had no problems I or out of the field. This collar is great for controlling my young dog both in my yard and out on the prairie chasing roosters. It amazes me how long this unit can go without having to be sitting on the charger! This product is a must have for keeping a young dog or any dog for that matter within a safe distance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Collar This product has worked very well since I bought it and has completely changed my dogs behavior and desire to be compliant. I especially like that there is the flashing light on it that indicates the battery level, that is very helpful. I use the vibrate function most of the time which is nice because the dog responds to it as well as the shock. This is a very high quality collar with tremendous range.

Can you cut the collars to fit?

Asked by: Cheryl
Hello, We do have the Maxx Range 360 antenna running (internally) the length of the collar, but you can cut around 3" off if you have lots of overlap. This won't affect the range much. NOTE: you may need some wire cutters to cut it since the antenna wire is in there. Hope this helps.

2 questions. 1) I have a RAPT remote not sure if its the 1400 or I noticed that there was 1450?How do I tell the difference? 2) my dog managed to slip his collar while we were shed hunting, what model number collars will it my system?

Asked by: jmcrosswhite
Hello, If you RAPT is black or camo, it is the 1400 series. Also on the collar tightness, we recommend a very snug collar so the contacts will work properly when you need them to. We recommend putting the collar on the dog and adjusting to be very snug, where you can just fit your index and middle finger under the collar between the collar and his neck. I put a link below to the add on collars for the RAPT 1400: Hope this helps.

How do you turn collars on

Asked by: Limiman
Hello, See below for a link to the Owner's Manual for the RAPT 1400 and instructions on how to turn on the collars: From Page 13 of Owner's Manual: TURNING ON AND OFF The Transmitter is always in a permanent sleep state. It is only ON when a button is being pressed and does not need to be turned off by the user. If the Transmitter does not activate, make sure you have a good battery installed and that your Collar Selector Dial is not in the Lockout position. Turning the Collar Unit ON/OFF: Turning the Collar Unit ON and OFF uses the same procedure: 1. Hold the Transmitter Magnet Indicator (white dot) directly against the Magnetic Activation Switch (small bump) on the right side of the Collar Unit. 2. The SmartLED Indicator will light solid for a second and then start flashing. Remove the Transmitter from the Collar Unit when the SmartLED light begins to flash. If the Collar Unit has been turned ON, the SmartLED will flash approximately every other second. If the Collar Unit has been turned OFF, the SmartLED will no longer be flashing. NOTE If the LED on the Transmitter flashes red rapidly after any button is pressed, the 9V battery will need to be replaced. If the SmartLED on the Collar Unit double-flashes red every other second while ON, the unit will need to be recharged. If this happens soon after a full charging session, the rechargeable batteries in the Collar Unit may need to be replaced. Link to Owner's Manual: Hope this helps.

I changed the battery in the remote, but I cannot get it to work... it does turn on the collar tho. Also.... is there a feature on the remote to lock it to avoid accidentally getting hit?

Asked by: ceaton
Hello, Though it may sound strange, and I am not saying you did this...but check to make sure the battery is inserted correctly, and not reversed. The +/- need to match up on the proper terminals. Also make sure the metal connection terminals inside the remote are making good contact with the battery. Finally just to be sure, check to see that the battery is not fully depleted. One way to make sure the transmiter/remote is working is to check for a red light coming on when you press a button. If a red light lights up on the remote when you press a button, the remote is working. Also you need to make sure your collar is programmed to your remote. The procedure for this is in the owner's manual and for your convenience I have included a link here to the Owner's manual. RAPT 1400 Owner's Manual Link: Hope this helps.
